DIY Halloween Decor

Halloween is one of the best times to decorate, whether you have kids or not. It’s a great opportunity to go all out and you can never be too creative! Here are a few fun and inventive ideas for decorating your home this Halloween.

BLACK MAGIC

These homemade candle holders couldn’t be easier. Champagne and red wine bottles are usually dark enough, but you can also spray paint them black if you feel like it. Add black wax candles and present over a dark table cloth for an extra spooky effect!

FESTERING FRUIT

This is how to do Halloween rustic style! Decorate your table with figs, cherries, blueberries, blackberries and dark tomatoes. The deep red and orange candles in this photo are a lovely compliment to the setting.

THORN FOREST

This is one of the cleverest ideas I’ve ever seen, because it’s so utterly simple! Spray paint a broken branch with black paint, place it on your table, then surround it with basically anything. These gold candle holders work particularly well, but you can use whatever you have as long as the colours aren’t too bright.

BLACK AND GOLD

Spray paint your pumpkins black and gold and embellish with stones (you can get these at any haberdashery), using superglue. These pumpkins are a great way to glitz up your Halloween!

PUMPKIN VASES

Thematic yet practical! Carve a hole in the top of your pumpkin and remove the filling. Use the pumpkin in place of a vase to present any flower arrangement. The berries in this photo are a nice touch. The great thing is, you can do this with pumpkins of any sizes. Why not try a great big one, surrounded by little ones?

BOHEMIAN GOTHIC

If you have an urn lying around, Halloween is the perfect time to get creative with it! Add some moss and red roses and surround with candles for a boho-gothic feel.

CAULIFLOWER BRAINS

So it’s true – cauliflower really is brain food! Add a whole cauliflower to a jar of water and drizzle soya sauce over the top, to get the bloody effect. Remind your guests that these are not to be consumed!

POISON BOTTLES

Take any jars or bottle you have lying around and paint them with black board paint. Then you can use white chalk to mark out your potions. Some of the words I’ll be using: Temptation,  gluttony, vanity, insanity. Now, you decide yours!
