Ladies Lunch

A Night For is a charity committee, which organizes events throughout the year and they choose a charity to support for each event. I thought this was a great idea. (Potentially what I can do if TSK expands).

Claudia Salem (a friend from school and founding member of the committee) randomly called to ask if The Social Kitchen X A Night For could collaborate to put on a ladies lunch.

As ideas and details developed for the event, Claudia asked me if I would be happy to talk at the lunch. The last time I probably spoke in public was at school; it has never been my thing! I was the girl who went completely red in the face. This was so scary for me but I knew that this would be a great way for people to understand the meaning of what The Social Kitchen is about and to encourage them to all buy a book and spread the word.

I remember as the room started to fill up with roughly 50-60 women. As I took my position at the front after Claudia introduced me I started with thank you for coming today… the rest just flowed. I realized it makes all the difference when your speaking from your heart compared to when it is something you have just had to learn.

I was so overwhelmed by the response and grateful.

From doing this lunch event, I was able to raise awareness, sell books and also gain confidence to potentially do this again.

If I can so can you!
