Host an International Women's Day Party
International Women’s Day is coming up on the 8th March, 100 years since we gained the right to vote. When Emmeline Pankhurst was imprisoned, she went on hunger strike, so what better way to commemorate her and celebrate our freedom, than by hosting a feast?
For my International Women’s Day party, I’ll be following a French theme, in salute to Miss Pankhurst, who was raise in France. The best thing about this is that it’s super easy to prepare. You don’t even have to cook! Here are some of the things I’ll be serving:
Cheese and Cold Cuts

Get a large dish, or board, and pile it with slices of salami, prosciutto and all of your favourite cheeses. Sprinkle handfuls of nuts around the board, adding in some fig slices and bunches of grapes. It can get expensive, so why not ask each of your guests to bring a different kind of cheese? You can even have a blind tasting!
Baguettes

Don’t forget to serve your platter with some delicious home baked baguettes. When I say home baked, I mean by the bakery!
Croissants

No one can refuse a croissant! If you’re hosting a brunch, serve a selection of plain and chocolate croissants, with butter and jam on the side. For a healthier meal, provide fillings for the croissants, such as cheese, ham, tomatoes, egg mayo and smoked salmon.
Salad Nicoise

This is a very easy salad to whip up. Chop up some hard boiled eggs, cucumber, tomatoes, boiled potatoes and add to a platter with green beans and a few tins of chopped tuna. Serve with a Dijon vinaigrette.
Champagne

Champagne is produced from grapes grown in the Champagne region of France. What better way to celebrate our freedom than with a delicious glass – or three – of bubbles!
Party Gifts
Ask all your guests to bring a book that they have found inspirational and have them swap with someone. My choice would be How To Be Both by Ali Smith.
Quote Confetti

Print out an array of quotes that inspire you and scatter them around the table like confetti. Or you can give everyone their own quote and ask them to discuss it with their neighbour.
Don't Forget Who Inspired You

Ask all your guests to bring a picture of their heroine and prop them up around the room, as a reminder, or scatter on the table, with your quotes. My choice would be Michelle Obama.
International Woman’s Day can be in honour of all woman in your life not just famous women. I would have also put a picture up of my mom and my sister as they both really inspire me!
